Our Vision
A Colorful Past...
Maytag Mountain Ranch lies at the base of Colorado's Sangre de Cristo mountains, the spectacular range the Ute Indians called the "Shining Mountains." As a working cattle ranch, a unique and sustainable Western lifestyle forms the core of our vision, emanating from the timeless quality of the open range, the pristine landscape surrounding us, and the colorful past that forms our history.
The Colorado ranch land for sale at Maytag Mountain Ranch once hosted Native American tribes, Spanish Conquistadors, and Mexican bandits. Later, the land was settled by homesteaders seeking a peaceful new life. Many found that ideal life here, but a few were forced into uneasy coexistence with outlaws and gunslingers during the days of the "Wild West."
A Vision for Homesteading in the 21st Century
In 1978, Russ and Jeannie Maytag decided to follow in the footsteps of Colorado's original settlers. Piece by piece, the Maytag's added to their original homestead over time, building a pristine working ranch of 2,953 acres while preserving western traditions of natural grazing, healthy ecology, and family participation in the ranching endeavor. Expressing their love of horses, ranching, family values, and big sky country bounded by mountain peaks, they built a home and created a life here.
The same clarity of purpose and vision behind this original homestead was the driving force in the creation of Russ and Jeannie's Maytag Mountain Ranch. A few partners can now share in this vision, as the ranch is one of the most unique ranch properties for sale in Colorado today.
A working cattle ranch preserved in the twenty first century, Maytag Mountain Ranch exists in accordance with e cologically and environmentally sound ranching practices and offers unlimited outdoor recreational opportunties and amenities.
