Meet the Ranch Managers

Management of the Ranch

Although each ranch manager has unique responsibilities on the ranch, together they are in charge of overall ranch operations including facilities, livestock, agricultural enterprises, recreational activities, employee oversight and budgets. They live on or near the ranch to ensure access and active management.

Hi there everyone, my name is Terry and I am the Facilities Manager at the Maytag Mountain Ranch. Just to tell you all a little bit about myself, I grew up in the Black Forest right here in Colorado. I spent my teenage years cowboy'n for the Senators in the Springs and my early adulthood in the Military when I enlisted in 1966 until I retired in 1995. Throughout my military career I took advantage of the educational opportunities it offered and have several degrees in various useful and useless backgrounds. After I left the military I spent a brief period of time in California where I met and married my wife, Noreen. Soon after we married we decided to settle down in Colorado. We live about 11 miles from the ranch so that makes the commute very pleasurable. Basically, what I do 'round here is take care and maintain all of the grounds and the buildings on the main compound. I also have a great relationship with the chickens and have encouraged them to produce great eggs. I help the Cattle Manager and the Horse Manager when necessary and maintain all the vehicles and roads on the ranch as well. Sounds like a fancy title, I know, but I really am just an old fashion cowboy that loves what he does. I couldn't find a better or more beautiful place to do what I love most than on the Maytag Mountain Ranch. It's the ultimate ranch life in a world of high technology, as we run things the good old fashion way.

I was born in Salida, Colorado. I was raised on Trail's End Ranch in Hillside, Colorado where my Dad has worked on and managed for 23 years. I was home schooled for the bulk of my education, which gave me ample opportunity to work with and learn from my Dad. During high school, I had the opportunity to work as the ranch manager for Bob and Carol Allison on the L Diamond A Ranch, also in Hillside. Bob and Carol were just starting a Grass Fed Beef program when I was employed there. After graduating high school in May of 2004, I was accepted by College of the Ozarks in Point Lookout, MO. I worked on the College’s Beef Farm for six semesters and two semesters in the technology department. In June of 2006 my wife Sara and I were married here in Hillside on Trail’s End Ranch. I graduated from College of the Ozarks May 11, 2008 achieving my B.S. in Agriculture with an emphasis in Animal Science and Agricultural Technology. I graduated as a member in good standing of Delta Tau Alpha the National Agricultural Honor Society.

I grew up in Northwest Wyoming. My folks owned a small ranch where I began my ranching career and my passion for the lifestyle. I went to work on a mountain ranch full time when I was fifteen in the summers.

I was involved in rodeo as were most of my friends…., part of the lifestyle. I went to college in Powell Wyoming at Northwest Community college where I had livestock judging and rodeo scholarships.
My passion for rodeo led me to all types of employment but mostly in the heavy equipment construction fields as well as agriculture.

I settled in Cody Wyoming for my first ranch management job. I was there for seven years and went to Cactus Feeders, Stratford, TX yard as an assistant mill manager. The work was pretty fun and challenging although very smelly! I found myself homesick for the mountains, and accepted a position with a ranch in Western Montana. I was there for almost twelve years. I took about a year to sell real estate with my folks. I missed the ranch lifestyle. That’s when I discovered Maytag Mountain Ranch!
