HIKING AND HORSEBACK RIDING

The wilderness area surrounding Maytag Mountain Ranch offers unparalleled hiking opportunities -- from easy to expert, from meadowlands to forests to mountain peaks.

From their front door, owners can access the 100-mile Rainbow Trail. Named for its bow shape, the trail was used first by Ute Indians, timber harvesters and miners. Today it offers quiet solitude, laden with high mountain lakes with abundant fishing. Just a short drive from the Ranch are thousands of miles of hiking trails in the Saguache Range, the Collegiate Peaks Wilderness Area, the Sangre de Cristo Mountain Range and the access to the famous Colorado and Continental Divide Trails.

Many of the trails open to hikers in the Sangre De Cristo Mountain Range also offer a wide variety of terrain for horseback riders, meandering through aspen forests, bubbling streams and climbs that provide breathtaking scenery.
