Maytag Mountain Ranch raises grass fed cattle: the happiest and healthiest in the West!

Our cattle are born and raised in the beautiful Wet Mountain Valley in the shadow of Colorado's spectacular Sangre de Cristo Mountains. Maytag Mountain Ranch's 2953 acres are lush and green, its days warm and nights cool. Our management intensive rotation grazing system insures our cattle have plenty of fresh grass to eat.

Our pastures are never artificially fertilized. Our cattle drink ice cold spring water — so clean and pure it has tested safe for human consumption. We NEVER use hormones and NEVER use antibiotics. Our cattle are not taken to the feed lot to be "finished." Instead they fatten on natural grass, the way nature intended.

BETTER FOR THE CATTLE...We feel sorry for feedlot cattle. They are the majority of cattle Americans eat, and they are fattened on grains, principally corn, not on grass, the way nature originally designed them. They are impregnated with hormones and are fed huge quantities of grain laced with antibiotics. Feedlot cattle can even be fed feed containing animal remnants—not a good situation. Cattle did not evolve as grain eaters, and their typical diet of chemically adjusted corn has an effect on the beef. Because the impact is negative for the cattle, it is negative for the humans who consume it. BETTER FOR YOUR HEALTH... Maytag Mountain Ranch's famous grass fed Beef has higher levels of Omega 3 fatty acids, which lower the risk of heart disease, and which may reduce the risk of cancer. It is lower in total fat than beef from conventionally raised (corn finished) cattle, resulting in fewer calories.
